TOUR DE CHEQUAMEGON

RIDE ITINERARY

Seeley Dave has done the recon, Wheel & Sprocket provides the support, and with the help of some amazing community establishments, we’ll feed you and quench your thirst. All you have to do is join us for an epic weekend of gravel roads, fall colors, and camaraderie.

Space is limited to 50 people. This ride, historically, sells out very quickly!

Day Zero: THURSDAY, Oct. 3rd

Join us Thursday night around 6pm for an optional pre-ride gathering and dinner at the Sawmill Saloon in Seeley. Riders can stay overnight, so they are fresh and ready to roll by 9am on Friday morning. The cost of lodging and dinner on Thursday evening are not included in the trip.

Day One: Friday, oct. 4th

Breakfast is on your own. The ride leaves at 10:00 AM from the Cable Municipal Parking Lot (43302 Randysek Rd, Cable, WI 54821). Cars will be parked here. Grab your lunch and any sports nutrition from the Wheel & Sprocket crew. Before heading out, we’ll get a picture of the crew & be on the way! The ride to Black Lake on Day One is about 41 miles. The first day is the longest ride with the most elevation gain. Once at camp, we will have snacks and beverages waiting for you. Dinner will be “Bikepacking” meals - freeze dried meals that the “pros” use, so you get the full bike-packing experience. Since it is Friday in the Northwoods, we will be serving Soul Boxer Old Fashioneds around the fire later.

Day Two: Saturday, oct. 5th

We will provide breakfast, which is coffee/tea, instant oatmeal with lots of local fresh fruit, maple syrup and bacon! The ride from Black Lake to Day Lake, about 31 miles. Day Two features almost all car-free gravel forest roads like this one but goes through a wide variety of forest from bogs to cedar swamps to hardwood. It is less hilly than the first day. There is an optional, short, rough ATV section at mile 20 on the day (mile 61 on the route) for the adventurous. Those who want to skip it will roll right past Ransom’s Place and the Chippewa Tavern in Clam Lake if you want to grab a snack or beverage before you head to camp at nearby Day Lake Campground. The Clam Lake Junction is also a great place to restock on anything you might want. For dinner, we’ll have warm pizza and salad.

Day Three: Sunday, oct. 6th

The final ride from Day Lake Campground back to Cable (Municipal Parking Lot) is about 34 miles, and the last 11 miles are on beautiful, low-traffic paved roads that run along Lake Owen. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, just like Saturday. For those who are sticking around Sunday evening to soak up the last bits of peace in the Northwoods, we will have an optional finish dinner and drinks at The Portage Bar or The River’s Eatery (it’s the shoulder season for these towns… we’ll see what’s open that weekend and keep y’all in the loop!).
